متن آهنگ

1. I built a friend
2. With three pieces of plastic and a pen
3. I made him on the table in the den
4. I gave him my old cell phone for a head, for a head
5. And we spent holidays in my house
6. And we left presents in a stocking
7. And we bought bolts and things and strings
8. And a new watch, that's what he got
9. And we had so much fun together
10. We knew we'd be friends forever
11. And we had so much fun together
12. We had so much fun
13. Then I left for college in September
14. And we wept 'cause we can't be together
15. So I kept pictures to remember my old friend, my old friend
16. Then I met this girl at graduation
17. And forget my oldest creation
18. And I guess I'll see him next vacation
19. Send my best, I send my best
20. And we had so much fun together
21. We knew we'd be friends forever
22. And we had so much fun together
23. We had so much fun
24. I came home to find him on the table
25. With a note, scribbled out in pencil
26. And he wrote, that he just wasn't stable all alone, all alone
27. Next to him, an empty glass of water
28. That he spilled, all over the body
29. That I built, it fizzled and it popped
30. And then it killed, and then it killed
31. And we had so much fun together
32. We thought we'd be friends forever
33. And we had so much fun together
34. We had so much fun
35. I built a friend
